California: AG releases proposed CCPA regulations for public comment
The Attorney General ('AG'), Xavier Becerra, released, on 10 October 2019, proposed regulations ('the Proposed Regulations') under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ('CCPA') for public comment. In particular, the Proposed Regulations are intended to provide practical guidance to consumers and businesses subject to the CCPA, including in relation to the notices businesses must provide to consumers, business practices for handling consumer requests, business practices for verifying the identity of the consumer making those requests, business practices regarding the personal information of minors, and businesses' offering of financial incentives.
The public comment period on the Proposed Regulations will include four public hearings. Comments may be submitted to the Office of the Attorney General on or before 17.00 Pacific Time on 6 December 2019.
