France: National Assembly adopts bill on children's online images

The National Assembly ('the Assembly') unanimously adopted, on 12 February 2020, a bill ('the Bill') on regulating videos on online sharing platforms featuring children's images for commercial purposes. In particular, the Assembly noted the risk of cyber-harassment and child pornography and that the Bill aims to set up a legal framework where children’s interests prevail. In addition, the Bill gives minors a right of erasure concerning the online transmission of their image, and introduces a fine of €75,000 for online services which do not comply with the regulations.
