Georgia: Aveanna Healthcare announces data breach

Aveanna Healthcare, LLC. announced, on 18 February 2020, a data breach affecting 116,077 of its patients, of which the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office for Civil Rights ('OCR') was notified on 14 February 2020. In particular, the data breach impacted email accounts containing, among other things, types of information for certain individuals including social security number, date of birth, bank account and credit card details, passport number, driver’s license, medical record number, patient account number, diagnosis information, treatment type, and location. Moreover, Aveanna have highlighted that they are unaware of any actual or attempted misuse of any personal or protected health information relating to the data breach.
