International: PCI SSC issues blog post on payment protection in remote working
The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council ('PCI SSC') issued, on 23 March 2020, a blog post ('the Blog Post') on protecting payments while working remotely. In particular, the Blog Post provides information mitigating the associated risks within an organisation by maintaining a culture of security including implementating a security-awareness programme and informing staff about the risks related to home-working by reminding them to ensure the ongoing security of systems, processes, and equipment supporting the processing of telephone-based payment card data. Furthermore, the Blog Posts recommends requiring all personnel to use only company-approved hardware devices and ensuring all desktops in remote working environments have, among other things, security patches installed and the latest version of corporate virus protection software.
