USA: CFPB issues 2019 report on FDCPA

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ('the Bureau') released, on 20 March 2020, its report ('the Report') on 2019 the administration of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. In particular, the Report highlights the efforts of the Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission to stop unlawful debt collection practices. Furthermore, the Report indicates that threatening to contact a third party about debt or sharing information improperly remains the least complained debt collection issue in 2019, constituting 3% of all consumer complaints.
