USA: NIST publishes second draft guide on ZTA network strategy

The National Institute of Standards and Technology ('NIST') released, on 13 February 2020, its second draft of Special Publication 800-207 ('SP 800-207') on Zero Trust Architecture ('ZTA') ('the Draft') and requested comments on the same, following an initial draft on the same. In particular, the Draft outlines, among other things, that ZTA is a response to enterprise network trends that include remote users and cloud-based assets that are not located within an enterprise-owned network boundary, and which focuses on protecting resources by improving the overall IT security infrastructure of businesses through detailed encryption and authentication processes. In addition, the Draft provides, among other things, general deployment models and use cases where a ZTA could improve an enterprise's overall IT security status.

Comments on the Draft can be submitted to [email protected] by 13 March 2020.
