Czechia: ÚOOÚ publishes its 2023 annual report
On March 25, 2024, the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) published its annual report for the year 2023. In particular, the report addresses the challenges faced within the data protection environment particularly drawn from the types of complaints it received in the year.
Additionally, the report highlights significant milestones for the ÚOOÚ, such as the increase in its issuance of decisions related to processing personal data through cookie files to reprimand defaulting administrators and its participation in the European Data Protection Board's (EDPB) coordinated supervisory action of European authorities (CEF).
Furthermore, the report also details the ÚOOÚ's efforts to curtail the private sector practice of sending unsolicited commercial communications by taking preventive actions such as initiating investigations and inspections into companies and imposing heavy fines in cases where violations are discovered.
You can read the press release here and the annual report here, both only available in Czech.
