Czechia: ÚOOÚ publishes its control plan for 2024

On February 5, 2024, the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) published its control plan for the protection of personal data 2024.

In particular, the plan outlines that its quarterly inspections shall be focused on the following areas:

  • the use of data from the population register by public authorities;
  • the recording of telephone calls;
  • the processing of personal data in information systems within the Schengen area;
  • the processing of personal data by the Police of the Czech Republic; and
  • the sending of unsolicited commercial communications.

Furthermore, the ÚOOÚ announced that it will be participating, along with other European supervisory authorities, in the European Data Protection Board's (EDPB) coordinated supervisory action of European authorities (CEF) of 2024, aimed at implementing the right of access from personal data administrators.

You can read the press release here and the control plan here, both only available in Czech.
