EU: EDPS issues guidelines on personal data and electronic communications in EU institutions

The European Data Protection Supervisor ('EDPS') issued, on 31 January 2020, its Guidelines on Personal Data and Electronic Communications in the EU Institutions ('the Guidelines'). In particular, the Guidelines address, among other things, system security and traffic management, the use of electronic communications services, and the access to emails in the absence of the employee. Moreover, the Guidelines outline that, while they are in principle aimed at the EU institutions, any organisation interested in data protection and electronic communications might find them useful.

You can read the press release here and the Guidelines here.
