Guernsey: ODPA announces sweep of gambling sites

On February 1, 2024, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) announced its participation in the 'privacy sweep,' an international investigation of deceptive design patterns as part of its role in the Global Privacy Enforcement Network. The ODPA confirmed that its investigation will concentrate on gambling sites. The ODPA also highlighted that the aims of the global sweep include:

  • broadening public and corporate awareness of privacy rights and responsibilities;
  • encouraging legal compliance; and
  • creating greater consumer trust by demonstrating a coordinated domestic and international regulatory presence.
