Honduras: National Congress approves seven articles of data protection bill

DataGuidance confirmed, on 14 November 2018, with the Honduran Institute for Access to Public Information ('IAIP') that the National Congress of Honduras ('the National Congress') had approved, on 7 November 2018, seven articles of the personal data protection bill ('the Bill'). In particular, the IAIP highlighted that, on 25 April 2018, the National Congress had resumed discussion of the Bill, and that to date, 36 articles out of 97 contained in the Bill had been approved. 

UPDATE (28 November 2018)

National Congress discusses Article 40 of the Bill

The National Congress announced, on 28 November 2018, that it had started discussions, in third debate, of Article 40 of the Bill, which relates to individuals' registration in credit databases. In particular, the National Congress noted that Article 40 would require any individual registered in the same to be notified before registration as well as their data removed once debts have been settled. The National Congress further stated that debate of Article 40 will continue.
