International: Malta and the Philippines sign MoU on data protection

On October 25, 2023, the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner of Malta (IDPC) announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Privacy Commission of the Republic of the Philippines (NPC). In particular, the IDPC stated that through the MoU, both authorities commit themselves to fostering collaboration and cooperation in the area of personal data protection. Both authorities also acknowledged the importance of keeping each other informed about their respective regulatory activity in order to better protect the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the Philippines and of Malta and support businesses in compliance with laws protecting personal data.
