Morocco: CNDP launches investigation into TLScontact data breach

The Moroccan data protection authority ('CNDP') announced, on 9 January 2023, that it had received confirmation from TLScontact, which provides for the collection of visa applications on behalf of foreign embassies of certain countries within Morocco, that it had suffered a data breach. In particular, the CNDP highlighted that TLScontact confirmed the existence of a regular transfer, every five minutes, of images extracted from its video surveillance recordings to two foreign government institutions.

In addition, the CNDP explained that it continues to investigate this data breach, that it had notified TLScontact of the obligation to bring all its processing of personal data into conformity no later than 28 February 2023, and that a dedicated page on the CNDP website will allow data subjects, from 12 January 2023, to follow the investigation.
