Nigeria: NDPB revokes operating licence of 19 Data Protection Compliance Organisations

The Nigeria Data Protection Bureau ('NDPB') announced, on 3 February 2023, that it had revoked the operating licence of 19 Data Protection Compliance Organisations ('DPCOs'), as many failed to demonstrate the requisite professionalism and capacity to complete their compliance tasks. In particular, the NDPB noted that the delisted DPCOs failed to meet the minimum requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019, including substandard filing of annual compliance audit returns on behalf of their clients.
