The Chamber of Deputies announced, on 30 April 2021, the official presentation of the bill on the Protection of Personal Data of the Republic of Paraguay. In particular, the Chamber highlighted that the bill was presented before the Science and Technology Commission of the Lower House, and is a product of the work of the Personal Data Coalition as well as various other public and private sector representatives.

The bill provides for the regulation of, among other things:

  • data subject rights;
  • security standards and obligations;
  • data protection officer activities; and
  • issues related to the creation and procedures of an enforcement authority.

The bill will be submitted for consideration to the advisory commissions in the Chamber of Deputies.

You can read the press release here, and read and track the bill here, both only available in Spanish.
