The Presidency Office of the Republic of Paraguay ('the Presidency Office') announced, on 26 December 2019, that the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, had signed, on the same day, Law Noº 6.497 That Modifies Provisions of Law Nº 1.015 / 97 That Prevents and Represses the Illicit Acts Intended for the Legitimization of Money or Property, and Its Amendment To Law Nº 3,783 / 09 into law ('the AML/CTF Law'). In particular, the Presidency Office stated that the enactment of the AML/CTF Law follows the Financial Action Task Force of Latin America mutual evaluation of Paraguay initiated in November 2019.  In addition, the Presidency Office noted that the President of the National Congress of the Republic of Paraguay, Blas Llano, stated that the approval of the amendments to the AML/CTF Law demonstrates the political will of Paraguay, to fulfill its international commitments.
