Saarland: Saarland Commissioner issues paper on data subjects' rights under GDPR

The Saarland data protection authority ('the Saarland Commissioner') issued, on 7 August 2019, a paper ('the Paper') on data subjects' rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR'). In particular, the Paper outlines that, following the entry into force of the GDPR, data subjects are entitled to, among others, the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, and the right to data portability. In addition, the Paper outlines that, with regard to the right to erasure, the same will not apply when the data controller's processing activity is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, such as for commercial or tax retention obligations.

You can read the press release here and the Paper here, both only available in German.
