Singapore: CSA publishes advisory on detecting and responding to deepfakes

On March 22, 2024, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) published an Advisory on Detecting and Responding to Deepfake Scams. In particular, the CSA highlights a three-stage approach to detecting deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence (AI) systems, namely:

  • assessing the message (source, context, and aim);
  • analyzing audio-visual elements (such as audio-video consistency, facial expressions, and background); and
  • authenticating content (detecting and content provenance tools).

Finally, the CSA outlines methods for responding to deepfakes, including sending reports to the National Crime Prevention Council.
