Switzerland: FDPIC launches new reporting portal for DPOs
On June 26, 2023, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) announced the launch of a new reporting portal for data protection officers (DPOs). In anticipation of the revised Data Protection Act coming into effect on September 1, 2023, the FDPIC has introduced an online registration system for the contact details of DPOs.
Moreover, the FDPIC highlighted that the DPO is the point of contact for internal questions on data protection or data processing within the organization, both for the persons affected by data processing and for the FDPIC. In addition, the FDPIC noted that the new reporting portal allows federal bodies and private individuals to securely submit DPO contact details digitally, with the added convenience of modifying entries and receiving confirmation notifications.
