UAE: Central Banks of UAE and Iraq sign MoU to enhance cooperation on banking supervision

The Central Bank of UAE ('CBUAE') announced, on 12 December 2021, that it had signed a memorandum of understanding ('MoU') with the Central Bank of Iraq ('CBI') to enhance cooperation on banking supervision matters. In particular, the MoU covers three main areas, which include control and supervisory issues, exchange of supervisory information, and strengthening bilateral cooperation on the training of workers and upgrading professional skills, in addition to technical assistance and knowledge exchanges.

Notably, the CBUAE highlighted that information exchanges should take place during licensing processes and ongoing supervision of financial institutions operating in both countries, all while maintaining complete information confidentiality.
