Chile: Ministry requests comments for AI policy update

On January 19, 2024, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation announced that it is seeking public comments for updates to the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy. The Ministry highlighted that the National AI Policy has been enforced since 2021, and contains strategic guidelines that the country will focus on over the next 10 years. Specifically, the Ministry stated that comments are requested regarding the Ethics and Governance axis of the National AI Policy for topics including: 

  • gender; 

  • equity and non-discrimination; 

  • impacts on work; 

  • children and adolescents; 

  • creation and intellectual property; 

  • preservation of cultural heritage; 

  • secure digital ecosystem; 

  • regulation and institutionality; 

  • international articulation; and 

  • environment and climate crisis.  

The Ministry stated that comments were accepted until March 15, 2024, through the Public Citizen Consultation form, only available in Spanish, here.
