Connecticut: Bill concerning AI referred to Office of Legislative Research and Office of Fiscal Analysis
On March 25, 2024, the Connecticut General Assembly announced that Senate Bill 2 an act concerning artificial intelligence was referred to the Office of Legislative Research and Office of Fiscal Analysis on March 24, 2024. In particular, the bill proposes that from July 1, 2025, each developer of a high-risk artificial intelligence (AI) system shall use reasonable care to protect consumers from any known or reasonably foreseeable risks of algorithmic discrimination. In any enforcement action brought on or after said date by the Attorney General under Section 7 of the bill, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a developer used reasonable care as required under the bill if the developer complied with its provisions.
