Argentina: AAIP presents data protection bill to ALACRED, highlights opportunities for credit organizations

The Argentinian data protection authority (AAIP) announced, on September 29, 2023, that it had presented the bill to update the Personal Data Protection Act of 2000 (the Act) to the 2023 General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Credit Bureaus (ALACRED). In particular, the AAIP highlighted the opportunities the updated Act would bring for credit organizations. In this regard, the AAIP Head, Beatriz Anchorena, noted that the bill seeks to incorporate in the Act a special chapter for the protection of credit information data. According to Anchorena, the bill would strengthen compliance and social responsibility policies.

The AAIP also pointed out that the bill would harmonize regional and international standards to address the needs of citizens on issues such as personal data protection and information security, within a framework of progress and incorporation of new technologies.
