Cambodia: MoI releases report on draft law on civil registration, statistics, and identification

The Ministry of Interior ('MoI') released, on 28 January 2020, a report ('the Report') on the fourth meeting of the National Orientation Committee for Statistics of Civil Status and Identity, which discussed the progress of the draft law on civil registration, statistics, and identification ('the Draft Law'). In particular, the Report notes that reform of the identity management system is a high priority for the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and identifies key issues to be discussed in relation to the Draft Law.

In addition, the Ministry of Information published, on 28 January 2020, a notice on the same ('the Notice'). The Notice emphasises that key recommendations arising from the meeting include, among other things, the launching of pilot projects for linking the civil registration system with the health system.

You can read the Report, only available in Khmer, here, and the Notice here.
