China: CAC announces the release of registered information on generative AI services

On April 2, 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced the release of registered information on generative artificial intelligence services, including a model name, filing entity, territory, and registration number.

In particular, the CAC highlighted that in accordance with the Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services, entities providing generative artificial intelligence (AI) services to the public or with social mobilization capabilities are required to register with the local cyberspace department.

Further to this, the CAC clarified that once the registration is completed, the local cyberspace departments must publicly release the registered information and the CAC will proceed to publish the summary of registrations on its website.

Lastly, the CAC stated that for generative AI applications or functions that have already been launched, the use of such services must be disclosed in a prominent position or on the product details page.

You can read the press release here and download the registered information here, both only available in Chinese.
