Thailand: PDPC signs MOU with EIT to create standards for engineering sector according to PDPA

On March 7, 2024, the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) to jointly define, promote, support, and create standards according to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) for the engineering sector.

In particular, the PDPC noted that the corporation has the following objectives:

  • to integrate cooperation in the standardization, verification, and certification of personal data protection standards in accordance with the PDPA;
  • to promote and support the body of knowledge in standard setting in line with international principles; and
  • to promote, support, and develop the audit and certification unit, in accordance with the PDPA, to have the capability to inspect and certify standards for entrepreneurs and related businesses.
