Russia: Central Bank publishes information on elimination of personal data recorded during its inspections

On April 16, 2024, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation published an information letter on eliminating the consequences of inspections carried out by the Central Bank as a supervisory authority in financial markets.

In particular, the Central Bank recommends credit organizations and non-credit financial organizations to:

  • destroy personal data of employees of the Central Bank and third parties provided during the inspection, following the deadlines established under Article 21(4) of the Federal Law of 27 July 2006 No. 152-FZ on Personal Data (as amended 2022) (the Law on Personal Data);
  • record the destruction of such data in acts of destruction following the requirements of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor); and
  • inform the persons to whom the specified data was transferred about the need to confirm their destruction and submit acts of destruction by the supervised organization.

You can read the information letter, only available in Russian, here.
