Saskatchewan: OIPC releases 2018-2019 annual report
The Office of the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner ('OIPC') released, on 27 June 2019, its 2018-2019 Annual Report ('the Report'). In particular, the Report highlights that the OIPC had, among other things, updated its guide to the Health Information Protection Act 1999 ('HIPA'), begun to develop and post guidelines for the use of mobile devices by health professionals, proposed recommendations for a broader definition of trustee under HIPA or other legislation, and is working on improving its efficiency in investigating and resolving privacy complaints.
